The Jeep Compass is an utter POS

I dropped my Dart off at the dealer for service and with the warranty, received a rental from Enterprise. Since Chrysler is picking up the tab, Enterprise needs to put me in one of their products. My options were slim this morning as I was offered a Journey (which I’ve already driven), a Patriot, or Compass. I feel bad for anyone who spent their hard earned money on one of those POS.

It’s not even worth doing a review except that the CVT transmission doesn’t work unless it’s at 4k or higher and acceleration from 0-20 takes about 3 weeks

I had one as a rental once, with the CVT. I thought it was broken as I pulled out, because all of the “torque” steer. “Torque” in quotes, because I don’t know how that little torque can grab the steering wheel that hard.

Well, I had a Patriot as a rental last fall, and you aren’t missing anything there. My Patriot review would be as follows:

Pros: Fully enclosed 4 door vehicle was able to move under it’s own (modest) power and keep me dry during a rain storm.

Cons: Everything else.

What kind of service was done on your Dart? I have a 2013 Dart GT and it’s had more work done to it than Kenny Rogers. It barely has 24k miles on the odometer.

To be fair though mine was a super early build GT and was seemkngky retained by FCA for some sort of testing. (Long story there)

I have a ‘15 GT. I felt(thought) my clutch didn’t have the pressure it used to and I know they have had issues with the master cylinder and related hose which can lead to loss of pressure and other issues, so I took it in to have someone look at it in case there was an actual issue (better safe than sorry). They checked for leaks, bled the system, and compared the feel to another Dart that was in for service as well and didn’t think there was anything wrong (which is fine. It just felt weird and I wasn’t taking any chances).

Other than this visit, the only time it has been in for anything other than routine service was when Merchants fucked up my TPMS sensor while patching a tire and I needed to get a new sensor. Hopefully it stays this way, if not, that’s why I got the warranty.

Yeah.... I didn’t think I was missing anything there since they are practically the same.

I’d rather take a Patriot than a trax/encore (I know they’re not the same size), but that isn’t saying much.

I like the Patriot’s exterior design.

This past winter I was asked for some car buying advice from a friend. She wanted a small SUV, and had a short list of vehicles she was interested in. On the list was a Jeep Patriot. I told her, “If you tell me you’re on your way to go buy a Patriot, I will tackle you.”

She bought a Patriot. It’s been in the shop several times already.
